The Robert L. Emig Mass Communications Scholarship

Applicants must be a currently enrolled Junior or Senior Mass Communications major with a 3.0 overall GPA. A junior recipient may reapply for the scholarship, and if the best candidate, may receive it for a second year. The scholarship award is determined by the amount available and may be awarded for 2 semesters per award, not to exceed 4 semesters per recipient. The recipient will be selected by a committee that should include but is not limited to one Mass Communications professor, one Mass Communications alumnus/a, and the Chair of the Mass Communications Department. A member of the Emig family may be included in the review of the applicants, but may not be involved in the final selection process.

The recipient will be chosen on the basis of a cover letter, resume and samples of work he/she has completed as class or work assignments. The applicants will be judged on the quality of their work; career ambitions; initiative and leadership qualities, including involvement with student and professional organizations.
