A junior recipient may reapply for the scholarship, and if the best candidate, may receive it for a second year. The recipient will be selected by a committee that should include but is not limited to one Mass Communications professor, one Mass Communications alumnus/a, and the Chair of the Mass Communications Department. A member of the Emig family may be included in the review of the applicants, but may not be involved in the final selection process.

The recipient will be chosen on the basis of a cover letter, resume and samples of work he/she has completed as class or work assignments.
