Matthew and Heather Samsel Graduate Student Award

The award recipient will receive a one-year award of a 25% graduate assistantship with no teaching responsibilities and will be selected by a committee established by the chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics based on the following criteria:

• Must be a declared mathematics graduate and must not, during the first semester of the award, have previously earned any graduate or undergraduate credit at SIUE.
• Must complete the application process as established by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
• Must maintain GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must maintain a course load of at least 6 credit hours in the Department during the award period

Preference will be given to students in Statistics, Computational and Applied Mathematics specializations. Eligibility for a second semester would be contingent on maintaining an academic standing of 3.0 or above. The recipient may additionally submit an application for a teaching assistantship in the Department to be eligible for up to a 50% assistantship.
