Ina Peabody Sledge Award

Scholarship support to Undergraduate students who embody the positive ideology of Ina Sledge through a strong pursuit of educational goals; strong character and moral fortitude; caring, motivation, giving attitude and active community involvement. Criteria for selection is as follows:

  • GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Must submit an essay on a topic provided by the selection committee

Preference will be given to residents of East St. Louis, Alorton, Centreville, Washington Park, Brooklyn and Venice.

Recipients will be selected by a committee composed of three library faculty members, three persons selected at large, and the fiscal officer of the account, who will serve as an ex-officio member. The Dean of Library and Information Services shall appoint committee members annually. The committee will determine the amount of the award and establish or upgrade guidelines and procedures as needed. Awards will be made in conjunction with Honors Day.
