Bessie May Briggs Mason Scholarship
Scholarship support to students who go into the Teaching profession. Criteria for selection is as follows:
- Major within the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior with a desire to obtain a degree in the field of Primary or Secondary Education or teaching certificate
Preference will be given to freshman students with demonstrated financial need and graduates of Alton Senior High School. If when all things are considered a student from a near-by high school shows greater promise and need, the scholarship may be awarded to that applicant.
Recipients shall be chosen by a committee of faculty or staff members appointed by the Dean of the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior. This scholarship is renewable for up to eight (8) semesters, pending that the recipient meets and maintains all eligibility requirements.
