William and Mary Tarwater Memorial Chair’s Scholarship
The scholarship is open to all students in good standing who will be or are enrolled in Music Department programs including both music majors and non-music majors. Recipients shall be selected by the Chair of the Music Department. The basic amount of the scholarship award will be $1,500 for tuition and other direct educational expenses, including such items as fees, books, music and other supplies. If insufficient funds exist to make the basic $1,500 award, smaller awards may be made. Based on funds available, multiple awards may be granted within the same academic year. If there are several good candidates with equal qualifications and there isn’t a pressing need for a specific instrument or vocalist within the department, applicants majoring in music education or brass instruments should receive preference. This recognizes Dr. Tarwater’s areas of specialty while teaching at SIUE.
