The Robert L. Emig Mass Communications Scholarship

Scholarship support for students in the Department of Mass Communications. Criteria for selection is as follows:

  • Currently enrolled Junior or Senior majoring in Mass Communications
  • GPA of 3.o or above

The recipient will be chosen on the basis of a cover letter, resume and samples of work he/she has completed as class or work assignments. The applicants will be judged on the quality of their work; career ambitions; initiative and leadership qualities, including involvement with student and professional organizations.

A junior recipient may reapply for the scholarship, and if the best candidate, may receive it for a second year. Award amount shall be dependent on funds available and may be awarded for 2 semesters per award, not to exceed 4 semesters per recipient for in-state tuition rates only. The recipient will be selected by a committee that should include but is not limited to one Mass Communications professor, one Mass Communications alumnus/a, and the Chair of the Mass Communications Department. A member of the Emig family may be included in the review of the applicants, but may not be involved in the final selection process.
