Carol Kimmel Student Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship exists to support a deserving SIUE student who demonstrates the leadership, community service and citizenship exemplified by Mrs. Carol Kimmel. The scholarship(s) will be awarded to an SIUE student on the basis of academic achievement and commitment to ideals of leadership, service and citizenship. The scholarship will be awarded to one (1) student in the spring for the following academic year and the amount shall be divided between two semesters of full-time study at SIUE. Students must apply in the spring semester, with the winner announced at the annual Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub Awards program. The recipient of the Kimmel Scholarship will receive an award of recognition and a partial tuition scholarship to be used toward tuition Other criteria for the scholarship includes:
1. Current enrollment as a degree-seeking student at SIUE. Must be an undergraduate student with at least 30 credits earned as of May 2024 or be a graduate student.
2. A cumulative SIUE GPA minimum of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
3. Demonstrated volunteer contributions at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in leadership, service, and/or citizenship. Evidence must include leadership which can include but is not limited to holding an officer position in a student organization, and more than 25 hours of non-paid service to a community agency or community organization.
4. A minimum of three listed references.
5. In order for a student to be considered for a second Kimmel Scholarship, documentation must be submitted for previous Kimmel Scholarships, or the applicant will not be considered for the second scholarship.
