Excellence in Special Education Award in Memory of Adam Zimmer

This award was created in 2009 to honor the memory of Adam Zimmer, a SIUE alumni who graduated from the Special Education program in 2008. Adam, his wife Lindsey Arnold-Zimmer, and their unborn child RIley passed away tragically in February 2009. The Excellence in Special Education Award in Memory of Adam Zimmer is awarded to a student with junior or senior status; a teacher candidate majoring in special education. This award will be made to the individual mostly closely representing Adam’s characteristics including a passion for teaching students with disabilities who possesses a positive attitude and is well respected by faculty and peers. Recipient will be chosen by program faculty.
