Edna and Frithiof Carlson Endowed Award for Creative Expression in a CAS Discipline

In honoring the lives of Edna and Frithiof Carlson, this fund will provide financial assistance to students in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at SIUE who demonstrate excellence in creativity through the presentation of works or projects in support of the student’s academic discipline. Criteria for selection is as follows:

• Student within the College of Arts & Sciences
• GPA 2.5 or above
• Good academic standing in their field of study

Recipients will be chosen by a committee assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Recipients may be self-nominated or nominated by a faculty member through the submittal of a letter supported with documented evidence of creative work. Examples of works may be, but are not limited to include musical recordings, theatrical or dance performance, creative writing, creative work in areas of Art and Design or other forms of creative expression in the disciplines of the College of Arts and Sciences. Nominations must include attestation to the quality of the project by a faculty sponsor, along with description of the project by the student.

Award amounts are anticipated to be $1,000 annually but shall be based on available funds and will be recognized annually at the CAS Honors Day celebration.
