Edna and Frithiof Carlson Endowed Award for Creative Expression in a CAS Discipline

In honoring the lives of Edna and Frithiof Carlson, this fund will provide financial assistance to students in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at SIUE who demonstrate excellence in creativity through the presentation of works or projects in support of the student’s academic discipline. Submissions are welcome from undergraduate majors in CAS who are sophomores, juniors or seniors. Creative activity/work must have been accomplished while a student at SIUE. Submissions are not limited to only the creative and performing arts, but are welcome from all disciplines within CAS. Examples of works may be, but are not limited to, creative writing; research projects, papers and posters; laboratory research; field studies; musical recordings; theatrical or dance performances; creative work in areas of Art and Design; or other forms of creative expression in the disciplines of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nominations * must include* attestation to the quality of the project by a faculty sponsor (faculty letter of support,) along with a description/statement of the project from the student, which includes an explanation of the creative process engaged to make the project. Students must be in good standing in their field of study with a GPA of 2.5 or above. Award(s) are anticipated to be a minimum of $1,000 per deserving student(s), but will be based on funds available, and will be recognized annually at the CAS Honors Day celebration.
