Charles H. and L. Jane Coffin Engineering Scholarship
The Charles H. and L. Jane Coffin Engineering Scholarship was established to provide support for students in the SIUE School of Engineering. Criteria for selection is as follows:
- Must be pursuing a degree in Engineering
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
- Must be registered as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours per semester)
- Must be a member, child of a member or past member, or grandchild of a member or past member of AFL-CIO. (Applicant will have to provide a copy of membership card or a letter from AFL-CIO organization)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must submit a one page essay on the following topic: “How organized labor has positively impacted my family”
Preference will be given to beginning freshmen pursuing a degree in the School of Engineering. If there are no qualified beginning freshmen, then community college transfer students will be considered. If recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in the freshman year and each subsequent year, the scholarship will automatically be renewed and will be permitted for four years (4 Spring and 4 Fall semesters). If the recipient does not maintain the cumulative 3.0 GPA recipient shall have a one semester grace period in which to meet the stated GPA.
Recipients will be selected by a committee appointed by the Dean of the School of Engineering.
