Professor Lisa Colbert Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship honors the memory of Professor Lisa Colbert for her work at SIUE in founding the Black Theatre Workshop in the Theater and Dance Department and preserving the legacy of Black Theatre. This scholarship is available to all undergraduate students participating in the Black Theatre Workshop. Preference will be given to students majoring in Theater and Dance, those with the highest overall GPA, those committed to keeping Black Theatre alive, those with racial and ethnic diversity, and those that are traditionally underrepresented in the discipline of theater and dance. If all other criteria are equal, the scholarship should be awarded to the applicant who most exemplifies Lisa Colbert’s life of service and her work in theater.
Applicants must submit an essay on a topic of the current year’s Black Theatre Workshop and the importance of Black Theatre today. The fund is anticipated to provide three $500 annually, but shall be based upon funds available.
