Ryan K. Marten Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship support for SIUE students majoring in Criminal Justice. Criteria for selection is as follows:

• Junior or Senior majoring in Criminal Justice with a strong interest in entering Local, State or Federal law enforcement upon completion of their degree
• Good academic standing
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above

  • Must provide a 500-word essay on their long-term goals for a career in law enforcement and how they feel contributions can be made to make a difference in the profession;
  • Must provide two letters of recommendation from either a previous or current educator or law enforcement officer or a combination thereof

Preference will be given to currently employed law enforcement officers and military veterans. Preference will also be given to students that show outstanding drive and motivation for law enforcement as a profession.

Recipients will be selected by a committee of Criminal Justice faculty assigned by the Department Chair. It is anticipated the award shall be $2,500 annually, but shall be dependent on funds available.
