Karen Morris Watkins Scholarship Endowment

Scholarship support within the SIUE School of Education, Health and Human Behavior. Criteria for the selection are as follows:

*Declared elementary education major and completing their student teaching semester at the time of application
*GPA of 3.0 or better
*Submit a 500-word essay on the following prompt: “Karen Morris Watkins loved Lovejoy Library when she was a student at SIUE and a devoted student employee while she completed her degree in elementary education. In 500 words, explain how you would utilize library resources during your student teaching semester.”

Donor also requests consideration of student who:

*Would not traditionally pursue a degree in the SIUE School of Education, Health and Human Behavior’s Teaching & Learning Department
*Who exemplify the life and legacy of Karen Morris Watkins

The amount of the award shall be based on funds available. Recipients(s) of this scholarship will be chosen by a committee appointed by the Dean of Education, Health and Human Behavior. The committee may elect to award all or part of the available funds to one student or to more than one student.
