Kay and David Werner Scholarship Endowment in Educational Leadership

Scholarship support within the SIUE School of Education, Health and Human Behavior’s Department of Educational Leadership.

Criteria for the selection are as follows:

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Pursuing a degree in any of the following programs with the Department of Educational Leadership:
    – Educational Administration (Principal, Principal Preparation, Superintendent, or Teacher Leader track)
    – Educational Leadership (General School Leadership or Superintendent track)
  • Submit an essay on the following prompt: “In no more than 750 words, share your educational journey and how it has influenced your dedication to the K-12 administrative profession.”

The amount of the award shall be $5,000 per year for the first ten years. Following the ten years, the amount of the award shall be based on funds available. The recipient of this scholarship will be chosen by a committee appointed by the Dean of School of Education, Health and Human Behavior which shall be made up of faculty members from within that department. The committee should elect to award $5,000 per year for the first ten years and then may elect to award all or part of the available funds to one student. Per the request of the donors, the award should not be split between multiple recipients and it is non-renewable.
