Ted and Gail Hoef Student Leadership Endowed Scholarship

To assist students who are involved in student life through volunteer leadership and campus employment. Recipients will be chosen based on the following preferred criteria:

  • Full time students who have completed at least one year at SIUE
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Past leadership involvement on campus and/or in the community
  • Plans for continued leadership involvement
  • Commitment to equity and inclusive leadership

Applicants will submit an essay describing:
1. Leadership experience;
2. How they will help to improve the quality of campus life through their leadership involvement during their remaining time a the University;
3. How they enable other to act, and encourage the heart, as a student leader;
4. How they treat others with respect and dignity as a student leader;
5. Their commitment to integrity and ethical leadership.

Recipients will be selected by a committee of Student Life staff and students appointed by the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. The applicant must provide a recommendation from their campus employment supervisor and participate in a personal interview with the selection committee. This scholarship may only be used for SIUE educational expenses, including room and board, shall be merit based, and shall enhance other financial assistance to which the student is entitled. The scholarship is renewable subject to approval of the selection committee.
