Evelyn Bowles Public Service Scholarship

Scholarship support to encourage those underrepresented in the ranks of elected officials, to participate in government, to participate in the electoral process, and to seek public office. Criteria for selection is as follows:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student at SIUE
  • Reside in Madison County IL
  • GPA of at least 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Exhibit characteristics of those who are underrepresented within the ranks of elected officials
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in participating in government at any level
  • Demonstrate involvement in government or public and/or community service activities
  • Write a 1,000 word essay on the benefits to the community from women holding elective office.
