Safe Zone Scholarship

The Safe Zone Scholarship is given to an SIUE Student who has demonstrated positive contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community.

This contribution may be of an academic nature such as research or scholarly writing related to LGBT issues or to programmatic or advocacy work completed for the SIUE campus. This scholarship is open to students who identify anywhere on the sexual orientation or gender spectrum, including students who identify as allies. Recipients must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be returning to SIUE in the Fall 2021 semester. An essay component is also required for this application.

Recipients may be asked to be featured in Safe Zone marketing materials and future Safe Zone sponsored events.

Up to two recipients will receive $500 for one semester.

  1. In no more than 1000 words, describe tangible ways that SIUE can better embed LBGTQIA+ representation into its efforts to foster an inclusive campus.
